KatadataOTO – To reduce the risk of traffic congestion during the 2025 Eid homecoming flow, the government is implementing operational restrictions on freight transport on several road sections. The regulation takes effect today at 00:00 WIB until Tuesday (08/04) at 24:00 WIB.

The restrictions are expected to make it easier for travelers to return to their hometowns, as vehicle density will be reduced compared to normal traffic.

However, Dudy Purwagandhi, the Minister of Transportation, revealed that these restrictions do not prohibit freight transport from passing. It's just that drivers and business operators must pay attention to some additional rules.

“This restriction rule was made by considering the aspect of service to the entire community. There is no ban on freight transport. So, freight transport and the homecoming flow can run side by side,” he said, as reported by Antara (24/03).

It should be noted that the operational time restrictions are imposed on freight vehicles with 3 or more axles, vehicles with trailers, articulated trucks, and those transporting excavation products, mining materials, and building materials.

During the restriction period, freight companies must carry out distribution using two-axle freight vehicles with the permitted gross vehicle weight, operate vehicles under police discretion, and prioritize safety.

Furthermore, regarding loading procedures, carrying capacity, cargo content, vehicle dimensions, and freight transport documents, they must also meet the technical and roadworthiness requirements in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.
