Yamaha is confident that the target set by AISI can be achieved this year, with several conditions.

KatadataOTO – The Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) has set a sales target for new motorcycles for 2026. They want there to be 6.7 million units in circulation this year.
The above target also received many responses from various parties, including Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM).
The Japanese manufacturer welcomed positively the target set by AISI for the new two-wheeled vehicle market.
“Hopefully the high interest of two-wheeler users in Indonesia can become a new hobby segment,” said Rifki Maulana, Manager Public Relations, Community & YRA YIMM some time ago.
Furthermore, Yamaha hopes motorcycles are not just a daily mobility partner for the domestic community.
But also can serve as a means to channel hobbies, so the new motorcycle industry in the archipelago can continue to develop.
Especially amid challenges poised to affect the two-wheeler market in 2026, such as possible reductions in opsen Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Transfer Tax (BBNKB) which may change.
Moreover, Indonesia's economic situation, which has not fully recovered, could also affect consumers' purchasing power.
“Well, if that is already created, it's not impossible that the challenges can be overcome,” Rifki continued.
Indeed Yamaha is optimistic that AISI's 2026 target can be achieved, considering last year they were able to reach the set figure.
The fork-logo manufacturer claims to be ready to excite the market so that consumers will want to purchase new two-wheeled vehicles.
“Hopefully consumers will continue to trust Yamaha as a riding partner,” Rifki asserted.
Additionally, Yamaha hopes the government will create regulations that are pro-industry and pro-consumer domestically.
So as not to burden new motorcycle buyers, allowing the domestic market to once again deliver the best results this year.
For information, throughout 2025 there were 6.4 million new motorcycles successfully delivered from manufacturers to dealers (wholesale). Therefore, AISI only targets 6.7 million units this year.
AISI states that it considers many factors, including anticipating a number of obstacles previously explained above.
