KatadataOTO – The government has officially restricted freight transport vehicles from operating during the Christmas and New Year 2026 holiday. This regulation is implemented to reduce traffic congestion that is likely to occur during this period.

This is stated in the Joint Decree (SKB) concerning Road Traffic and Crossing Arrangements During the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year Transport Period. However, some vehicles are exempted from the restriction.

"Freight transport vehicles that are exempted from the restriction or can still operate. These include carriers of fuel/gas, cash deliveries, livestock and animal feed, fertilizer, natural disaster relief, free motorcycle transport, and basic necessities," affirmed Aan Suhanan, Director General of Land Transportation.

However, the vehicles must still be equipped with several documents to pass safely. This ensures that traffic management can continue to run optimally.
