KatadataOTO – Chinese cars in Indonesia are showing a positive trend thanks to the continuous introduction of various models and competitive prices.

Speaking of Chinese cars overall, after leading sales for several months, BYD has now been replaced by Chery in the top spot for best-selling Chinese cars throughout September 2025.

Based on Gaikindo data, on Monday (13/10), Chery's retail sales (delivery from dealer to consumer) were 2,102 units.

This figure represents an increase of about 41.5 percent from 1,485 units in August 2025.

Meanwhile, BYD experienced a decrease of 25.8 percent from 2,746 units to 2,036 units. This is likely because Atto1 deliveries have not yet been made.

Completing the top three is Wuling, which successfully delivered 1,467 units to consumers in September 2025.

Then Aion followed in fourth place with 452 units. MG experienced a rather steep decline of 39 percent, from 151 units to 92 units.

Neta once again failed to make it into the top 10, only recording retail sales of 17 units.

Meanwhile, Maxus, a brand that offers an electric competitor to the Toyota Alphard, recorded no unit deliveries at all.

Overall, all brands except Chery experienced a decline in retail sales in September 2025.

However, towards the end of the year, sales are believed to be boosted by the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week automotive exhibition, also known as GJAW 2025.

GJAW 2025 focuses on programs such as price cuts or discounts. Thus, it is hoped that this can create a positive trend for car sales.
