KatadataOTO – The new Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross officially launched for Indonesian consumers on Friday (16/05). There are a number of updates to the exterior, interior, and its features.

In terms of the engine, it is still the same as the previous version. Mitsubishi is reluctant to bring the Xpander Hybrid, which has been released in Thailand, to the Indonesian market.

When confirmed, Mitsubishi stated that their main focus is currently preparing for the arrival of the newest three-row SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), the DST Concept.

“The launch of a new product (DST Concept) is our top priority this year,” said Atsushi Kurita, President Director of PT MMKIS (Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia) in Jakarta, Friday.

Kurita emphasized that the Xpander Hybrid and Xpander Cross Hybrid can still and have the opportunity to be assembled domestically.

However, amidst weakening purchasing power and economic uncertainty, launching a facelifted version of the Xpander is considered the right strategy to help maintain sales in 2025.

“We refreshed the interior, then introduced a new variant. I believe we can expand the market and increase our market share,” Kurita affirmed.

Kurita confirmed that Mitsubishi's hybrid product in Indonesia will be prepared for launch after the DST Concept, which will fill the gap between the Pajero Sport and the Xforce.

“No (we are not waiting for incentives). In terms of priority, our main focus is to fill a new segment, which is the three-row SUV,” he asserted.

For your information, Mitsubishi is introducing the Exceed Tourer type, which is the lowest trim level, with the inclusion of modern features to facilitate customers, such as an Engine Push Start Button.

The Exceed Tourer is said to come with updates based on feedback from Mitsubishi Xpander consumers.
