Scheduled to debut in Thailand in March 2025, the Mitsubishi Xforce Hybrid has a chance to be introduced to Indonesia.
KatadataOTO – Mitsubishi Xforce is one of the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) products offered by PT MMKSI (Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia) to domestic consumers. Marketed in several ASEAN countries, it seems a new type will be introduced this year.
According to local Thai media reports, the Xforce has not yet been officially launched in the Land of the White Elephant because it is still in the study phase. The reason is that Mitsubishi is interested in exclusively introducing the Xforce Hybrid.
Hybrid cars receive various benefits in Thailand because they are supported by regulations and incentives from the government. So the price can be competitive, with some claimed to be cheaper than conventional cars.
Quoted from Headlightmag, Friday (10/1), Mitsubishi is suspected of embedding new hybrid technology for the Xforce, different from that used in the Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV.
However, looking at the road test unit in Thailand, the exterior design and shape of the Xforce Hybrid do not have significant differences from the version currently marketed in Indonesia.
However, the wheels used are different, dominated by black with an 18-inch size. The design appears minimalist and adds to the sporty impression of the Xforce Hybrid.
Reportedly, the Mitsubishi Xforce Hybrid will debut in Thailand in March 2025, specifically at the Bangkok International Motor Show.
The government recently provided a three percent incentive for hybrid cars. This has become an attraction for several manufacturers to introduce their HEV lines to the Indonesian market.
The rules have not been explained in detail, but it is highly likely that the TKDN (Domestic Component Level) figure is one of them.
Considering that Mitsubishi's vehicle line, including the Xforce, is already locally assembled. Furthermore, PT MMKI (Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia) has stated its readiness to produce hybrid cars at their assembly facility.
“I will increase MMKI's production volume. And we will introduce more new models, including electrified ones like hybrids,” said Takao Kato, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in Cikarang some time ago.
It is not yet known for sure which Mitsubishi hybrid car model will be assembled there. But there are three candidates: the Xpander Hybrid, Xforce Hybrid, and the DST Concept, also known as the 7-seater Xforce.
