KatadataOTO – The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) estimates vehicle sales in Indonesia to be around 900,000 units in 2025. This number is a slight increase from last year's achievement of 865,723 units.
From that number, Mitsubishi is optimistic it can capture at least 10 percent of the total national market. This target is higher than last year's achievement of only 8.2 percent.
To achieve this, Mitsubishi plans to launch at least three models in 2025. Two of them are the Xpander and Xpander Cross, which were recently introduced.
They have also prepared one new model for this year so that the public can have more vehicle choices. Although not explained in detail, the product is believed to be based on the DST Concept.
The car has even been caught road-testing several times at a number of locations, especially in West Java.
Not only that, Mitsubishi has also provided various attractive sales programs, such as affordable down payments, low interest rates, lucky draws, and financing program support.
Exhibitions in various regions will also be held every month. This is expected to reach more new customers.
Furthermore, Mitsubishi will also re-explore the potential of fleet sales for large projects. This step can certainly boost sales in 2025.
It should be noted that throughout the 2024 fiscal year, Mitsubishi's sales did experience a decline. It was recorded that they could only sell 71,451 units.
This figure is lower than the same period the previous year, which was 77,937 units. However, this situation is inseparable from the weakening of the overall automotive market.
Nevertheless, several Mitsubishi models managed to record quite good sales figures. The Xforce, for example, became the second best-selling Compact SUV with a market share of 14 percent.
Good results were also achieved by several other models in their respective segments. For instance, the Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross, which captured 23 percent of the market share.
Then in the Medium SUV segment, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport dominated 40 percent of the market.
Next is the Mitsubishi Triton with a market share of 39 percent.
"The Mitsubishi L300 also became a leader in the pickup segment with a 49 percent market share," explained Budi Dermawan, Head of Sales Group at PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) in Jakarta.
