KatadataOTO – Toyota RAV4 has been officially launched in Japan. The sixth generation of this model comes in Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) options.

The presence of the RAV4 adds to Toyota's lineup of renewable energy vehicles that will soon be introduced to the global market.

Its design looks sportier. The grille shape is new, and the headlights adopt a hammerhead concept.

The hammerhead style has previously been applied to several other new Toyota models, such as the bZ4X electric car and the Prius hybrid.

Not only has the exterior been updated, but the interior of the Toyota RAV4 is also designed to meet passenger needs, featuring the Island Architecture concept.

This means various feature settings and the vehicle display are made ergonomic and easily accessible to the driver.

Furthermore, the graphics on the head unit are claimed to be more capable, equipped with three display modes: Full, Standard, and Minimum.

It was further explained that there are three Toyota RAV4 variants: Z, Adventure, and GR Sport. The top-tier GR Sport type will be introduced in the 2026 fiscal year.

The Z type has the most minimalist appearance without many additional body kits. Meanwhile, the Adventure variant looks sportier with all-black ornaments such as the wheels and door handles.

The Toyota RAV4 Adventure also no longer adopts the honeycomb grille used on the Z variant.

Speaking of the powertrain, the sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 is equipped with a 2,500 cc four-cylinder engine. The power output is 177 kW (240 hp), delivered to a Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) system.

For your information, the latest generation of the Toyota RAV4 is believed to be registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI).

This was revealed in the Official Industrial Design Gazette No. 80/DI/2025 with application number DI A00202407405.

This model has a chance of arriving in the country next year as a successor to the previous variant that is no longer sold.

To give an idea, the price of the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV when it was launched in Indonesia was IDR 1.15 billion. So, the price tag for the newest generation will likely not be much different.
