KatadataOTO – PT TAM (Toyota Astra Motor) is conducting a recall for the Toyota Alphard, a luxury MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) that has been marketed in Indonesia. This applies to certain production years.

Quoted from Toyota's official statement on Monday (14/04), there are two components that need to be inspected: the Front Hood Moulding and the Alternator Pulley.

This applies to Toyota Alphard models produced in certain years, specifically August-October 2022 and December 2013-December 2022. Owners are advised to bring their vehicles to the nearest official Toyota workshop.

“Considering the potential for imperfections, we invite owners of Toyota Alphard models from specific production years to visit official Toyota workshops throughout Indonesia to check if their vehicle is included in the recall,” said Henry Tanoto, Vice President Director of PT TAM.

If a problem is found, Toyota will provide a component replacement according to technical specifications.

It was further explained that the Front Hood Moulding on the Toyota Alphard has a chance of detaching from its original position. Its mounting structure position needs to be reinforced.

Consumers need not worry as the inspection and component replacement will only take about 30 minutes.

Then, in the Toyota Alphard, there is an alternator, a component that generates electrical power to operate the car's electrical system. The pulley complements this, tasked with rotating the alternator in sync with the engine's rotation.

However, there is a potential imperfection in the Alternator Pulley of Toyota Alphard models from December 2013-December 2022, which could cause a noisy sound and even lead to a decrease in electrical output.

The inspection and replacement time for this component is about one hour. Consumers are advised to book a service appointment in advance to avoid long queues.

“Given that there are two recalls for Toyota Alphard models from different production years, customers can confirm by contacting the official Toyota dealer network spread throughout Indonesia,” said Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT TAM.

Additionally, Alphard owners can visit the official website toyota.astra.co.id/sc, the 24-hour customer care at phone number 1-500-315, or TARRA (Toyota Interactive Virtual Assistant) via Whatsapp at 08111500315.

“This step is a form of responsibility for the quality of the products marketed and provides peace of mind to all Toyota customers,” he affirmed.
