KatadataOTO – Toyota confirms that their vehicle export figures from Indonesia will reach a cumulative three million units since 1987 by September 2025.

The exports in question are Completely Built Up (CBU) vehicles. If achieved, Toyota will become the first automotive manufacturer in the country to export three million units.

It should be noted that PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) previously stated that their exports had reached approximately 2.8 million units as of the first quarter of 2025.

“This year we will reach three million units,” said Nandi Julyanto, President Director of PT TMMIN, when met on the sidelines of the Toyota Eco Youth event in Jakarta, Monday (25/08).

However, Nandi did not further elaborate on the exact latest cumulative export total for Toyota. But he confirmed it is approaching the three million mark.

“Around September, it will reach three million. Hopefully (it will exceed three million export units),” said Nandi.

Amidst a weakening domestic market and public purchasing power, Toyota claims it has not adjusted production activities because its export figures still show a positive trend.

Throughout 2024, Toyota exported various types of vehicles including the hybrid car Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix.

Toyota's hybrid car export figure in 2024 was around 18,700 units, a sharp increase from the previous achievement in 2023 of 8,700 units.

The Kijang Innova Zenix is cited as the largest contributor to Toyota's hybrid car exports with 11,760 units, followed by the Yaris Cross Hybrid with 6,763 units.

This year, the hybrid car exports from the T-badged manufacturer are targeted to increase from 18 thousand to 20 thousand. The target for 2030 is for this achievement to rise and contribute 50 percent of Toyota Indonesia's total exports.

Overall, Toyota Brand exports to nearly 100 countries since 1987 totaled 2,520,754 units as of October 2023. By 2025, the figure is said to have surpassed 2.8 million.

“From January to February, (Toyota's) exports were 39 thousand, approximately 60 percent of Indonesia's automotive exports. God willing, this year we will reach three million export (units),” said Bob Azam, Vice President Director of PT TMMIN, when met on a different occasion.
