KatadataOTO – The government has officially provided hybrid car incentives in the form of a three percent tax cut for models that meet the requirements.

This is intended to stimulate sales of environmentally friendly vehicles in Indonesia. However, not only that, PT TAM (Toyota Astra Motor) revealed that subsidies also help boost sales.

It should be noted that public purchasing power is considered to have weakened, especially in 2024. Therefore, providing subsidies and introducing new products with affordable price tags has become a strategy to attract consumer interest.

“This is still new, just one to two weeks. But honestly, we are seeing positive movement, especially for the Innova (Zenix),” said Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of PT TAM, on the sidelines of IIMS 2025, Wednesday (19/2).

Toyota registered two models to receive hybrid car incentives from the government, namely the Kijang Innova Zenix HEV and Yaris Cross HEV.

Anton emphasized that his party has started to see an increase specifically in purchases of the Innova Zenix HEV.

“Let's see, maybe until the end of the month, before saying what the numbers are. Because it fluctuates, there are still exhibitions and other activities,” said Anton.

Furthermore, in 2025 he hopes the contribution of hybrid cars to Toyota's sales can increase. Currently, the percentage is 10 to 11 percent, with a projection to rise to 15 percent.

“Our hope is that the market can grow and develop again. Then, not only will the hybrid percentage increase, but the sales volume will also increase,” he asserted.

For your information, Toyota hybrid cars have experienced a price decrease of around Rp 10 million to Rp 13 million after the incentive.

The subsidy policy was actually effective on January 1, 2025, but at that time, manufacturers had not yet received more detailed technical instructions.

However, for all consumers who purchased a Toyota hybrid car in the January-February 2025 period, there will be a refund of the difference, and the post-incentive on-the-road price will be applied.

The prices of the two Toyota hybrid cars receiving the tax subsidy are currently offered starting from the Rp 400 million-Rp 600 million range and up.
