KatadataOTO – Bajaj Auto has now become the owner of KTM after successfully acquiring 100 percent of the shares previously controlled by Pierer Bajaj AG as the parent company. This transaction was carried out by Bajaj Auto International BV on November 18, 2025.

In the transaction, Bajaj Auto International BV purchased 50,100 shares and ended the Pierer Group's involvement in KTM. The transaction value reached 800 million Euros or the equivalent of IDR 15.3 trillion.

By controlling Pierer Bajaj AG, Bajaj also became the majority shareholder in Pierer Mobility AG (PMAG) and KTM AG (KTM). Impressively, the stake reached 74.9 percent, making it a subsidiary of Bajaj Auto.

Actually, this acquisition process had already begun in May 2025. At that time, the company officially signed a share purchase agreement for Pierer Industrie AG.

The transaction value was also quite large, reaching 600 million Euros. The funds were divided into two parts: 450 million Euros for KTM and 150 million Euros in the form of bonds issued by Pierer Bajaj AG.

Before making the purchase, the company had already injected 200 million Euros to help KTM pay off its debts.

The company had even issued two notices to exercise the call option while awaiting approval from the relevant authorities.

After the acquisition, Bajaj immediately made various major changes to the group's structure. One of them was the name change from Pierer Bajaj AG to Bajaj Auto International Holdings AG.

Then, Pierer Mobility AG, which is listed in Zurich and Vienna, will be renamed Bajaj Mobility AG. In addition, the executives of the company will be replaced to suit the needs of the parent company.

It was not stated whether the change in ownership would impact other countries, including Indonesia. Nevertheless, it is hoped that KTM can develop further in the future.

This is because the brand is already well-known in various countries and has a fairly loyal customer base. Therefore, it is expected that model development will remain a focus for the new owner.
