KatadataOTO – Members of the House of Representatives (DPR) are currently a topic of discussion. This is because they are said to be receiving a significant increase in salary and allowances for the 2024-2029 period.
First is the rice allowance; they previously received IDR 10 million. However, it has now increased to IDR 12 million.
Then there's the fuel allowance; previously, members of the DPR RI only received IDR 4 million to IDR 5 million. Now they are given up to IDR 7 million.
Additionally, according to the Minister of Finance Letter No. S-520/MK.02/2015, there are a number of allowances that are considered to be very pampering for DPR members.
For example, the rice allowance is around IDR 30,090 per person per month. Then there is a car loan facility of IDR 70 million per period.
Additionally, there is a budget for the maintenance of official residences ranging from IDR 3 million to IDR 5 million per month.
Of course, the figures above are considered fantastic, considering the government is currently implementing budget efficiency measures.
Then the salary of a DPR member is considered too large when compared to the wages of other professions. For example, contract teachers who only receive around IDR 300,000 per month.
“The change only occurs in the pattern of providing housing facilities, which is more practical and efficient from the state budget perspective," said Adies Kadir, Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, to Antara on Thursday (21/08).
The following is a breakdown of the salary for DPR RI members for the 2024-2029 term, which reaches IDR 118.9 million per month as previously reported by Katadata.
