Lisa Blackpink shared the fun of filming in Thailand, uploading photos while riding an old Honda Beat.
KatadataOTO – Recently, social media was abuzz with a post from one of the members of the music group Blackpink, Lisa.
In between filming a movie in her home country, Thailand, she was seen using a motorcycle model that is widely used in Indonesia.
The motorcycle was an old Honda Beat, the first generation, also known as the carburetor Beat, because it still uses a carburetor engine.
It should be noted that as of 2024, the Honda Beat is the best-selling motorcycle in Indonesia, with sales reaching 23 million units since it was first launched.
It's an interesting sight because the motorcycle is no longer in production. The first-generation Beat with a carburetor system debuted in Indonesia in 2008.
Its presence could be said to be one of the pioneers of entry-level scooters in the country. Its size is compact, and its fuel consumption is claimed to be economical, making it suitable for daily use.
The first-generation Honda Beat was equipped with a 110 cc SOHC carburetor engine, producing 8.1 hp at 8,000 rpm while its peak torque was 8.32 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
Not long after, in 2010, PT AHM (Astra Honda Motor) added features like a variant with spoked wheels. However, in terms of the engine, there were no changes.
This old Honda Beat is still often seen on the roads, and used units are available on the market. Here is the price range for the carburetor Honda Beat.
It was only in its second generation that the Honda Beat switched to a fuel-injected engine. This Fuel Injection system was said to make the Beat's fuel consumption more efficient than the carburetor version.
Its engine has a capacity of 108 cc, is air-cooled SOHC. The power output is 8.4 hp at 8,000 rpm, with a peak torque of 8.68 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
Its fuel tank capacity increased, from the original 3.5 liters to 3.7 liters in the newest model.
In terms of design, the Honda Beat also received changes such as a slightly wider design and a more spacious luggage compartment.
Currently, the Honda Beat is marketed to consumers with a 109.5 cc engine producing 8.8 hp at 7,500 rpm and 9.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. This scooter is sold for Rp 18.8 million to Rp 20.2 million on the road in Jakarta.
