KatadataOTO – PT Pertamina Lubricants is holding a Free Oil Change program in several locations from March 7-9, 2025. This is in response to the floods in several areas of Jabodetabek, especially on March 5, 2025.

It should be noted that in some parking areas, motorcycles were even submerged in quite high water. This program can be utilized if your motorcycle was affected by the flood.

The hope is that flood-affected motorcycle users can continue to maintain their vehicles to keep them tough and powerful.

Three locations that the public can visit include Pondok Gede Permai Housing (Bekasi), Baiturrahman Mosque (Cisarua, Bogor), and the Cawang Village Office (East Jakarta).

“Through this Free Oil Change program, we want to ease the burden on the community while maintaining optimal vehicle performance,” said Nugroho Setyo Utomo, Vice President of Marketing at PT Pertamina Lubricants in his official statement, quoted on Saturday (03/08).

He further emphasized that Pertamina Lubricants understands that floods impact various aspects of life, not least vehicles as the community's primary means of mobility.

Water, in this case from the flood, can change the characteristics of the lubricant and cause it to lose its ability to reduce friction between engine components.

If this happens and the condition is left unchecked, engine component wear can occur more quickly.

Other effects include decreased engine efficiency, an increased risk of severe damage due to excessive friction, and the potential for corrosion if water is left in the engine for too long.

“Oil that has been mixed with water must be drained or flushed immediately to ensure no water remains in the engine before adding new oil,” said Tri Purwanto, a Technical Specialist at Pertamina Lubricants.

According to him, some indicators that oil has mixed with water can be seen, for example, the oil color turns brownish and becomes foamy like milk.

In addition to the oil change, Pertamina Lubricants, together with MyPertamina, has prepared free vouchers worth Rp 15 thousand.

This additional program is expected to have a positive impact on all communities affected by the floods, while also strengthening Pertamina's commitment to maintaining vehicle performance throughout Indonesia.
