Motorcycles that have been submerged in floods, like those of Bekasi residents, must undergo maintenance first before being used.

KatadataOTO – The Bekasi flood indeed began to recede on Wednesday (05/03). However, the disaster has left lingering problems for some parties.
This includes residents whose vehicles were submerged in water in the parking area of Bekasi Station, West Java, on Tuesday (04/03).
“The motorcycle parking facility at Bekasi Station (Jl. Ir. H. Juanda) is currently affected by the flood,” wrote an announcement on the X account @CommuterLine.
Of course, the incident above means that vehicle users cannot immediately use their motorcycles.
Because if forced, it could potentially cause damage. Therefore, you must perform maintenance or service at the nearest workshop.
“If it was submerged in a flood for a full day, it must be thoroughly checked. Both the air filter and the external condition of the engine must be inspected,” said Wahyu Budhi, Training Analyst at PT Wahana Makmur Sejati to KatadataOTO, on Tuesday (04/05).
Now, for the maintenance of a flood-submerged motorcycle, it starts with replacing the spark plug, air filter, and draining the engine and gear oil.
This is to ensure there is no more water inside the engine, thus preventing damage or rust.
Wahyu explained that the price of a spark plug at an official AHASS workshop is around Rp 25 thousand. Meanwhile, the air filter is priced at just Rp 65 thousand.
Next, MPX engine oil is about Rp 52 thousand and gear oil is Rp 19 thousand. Then, the motorcycle owner must pay for the service labor and the draining of all fluids.
“Plus the service labor cost is around Rp 400 thousand to Rp 500 thousand,” Wahyu continued.
Then, for automatic motorcycle users, it is also mandatory to service the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) part. This maintenance costs from Rp 50 thousand, but does not include the replacement of damaged components.
It should be noted that the figures above do not include any damage found. Especially if a flood-submerged motorcycle is forced to start.
“The block and piston will automatically be scratched, so they must be replaced or rebored. Then we also have to re-grind the valves,” he said.
For this repair, Wahyu estimates the cost to be from Rp 1 million to Rp 1.9 million, for repairs at an official Honda workshop.
