The Reason Ridwan Kamil's Confiscated Royal Enfield Hasn't Been Hauled Away Yet

KatadataOTO – One of Ridwan Kamil's motorcycles seized by the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) is a 2017 Royal Enfield Classic 500.

However, the two-wheeled vehicle has not yet been transported to the KPK's Confiscated and Seized Goods Storage House (Rupbasan).

“The seized vehicle is still on loan to the person concerned (Ridwan Kamil),” said Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto, KPK Spokesperson, to Antara on Thursday (17/04).

Tessa further explained that the Royal Enfield Classic 500 belonging to the former Governor of West Java will still be taken to the Rupbasan.

The transfer process is just a matter of time. However, they still have to resolve several issues.

Nevertheless, the anti-graft commission has advised Ridwan Kamil to take care of the seized motorcycle.

“In the process of granting the loan-to-use permit, there are certainly requirements that must be handled by the borrowing party,” Tessa continued.

Tessa gave an example that Ridwan Kamil is not allowed to modify the form, transfer ownership, or sell the two-wheeled vehicle.

She explained that the various conditions above must be met by Ridwan Kamil. This is to ensure the seized asset's value remains fixed or unchanged.

Meanwhile, if one of the conditions is violated, sanctions will be imposed. Such as replacement according to the vehicle's value at the time of seizure.

“This is related to Article 21 (Law Number 20 of 2021 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes),” Tessa affirmed.

She revealed that the above article relates to provisions on obstruction of investigation in the alleged corruption case at Bank BJB.

Reason for the Seizure of Ridwan Kamil's Motorcycle

On the other hand, the KPK explained why Ridwan Kamil's Royal Enfield Classic 500 was seized in the alleged corruption case at Bank BJB.

They suspect this two-wheeled vehicle is related to the Bank BJB advertising procurement project for the 2021-2023 period.

“It is certainly possible that the vehicle was part of the ongoing corruption process,” Tessa stated.

Then, the motorcycle is suspected of being used as a means or purchased using the proceeds of corruption.

However, Tessa said that the exact reason for the seizure of Ridwan Kamil's motorcycle lies with the KPK investigators.

“So, where does the vehicle seized by investigators fit in? We'll just have to wait,” Tessa concluded.
