80 motorcycles had their tires deflated in West Jakarta for illegal parking and obstructing passing pedestrians.

KatadataOTO – At least 80 motorcycles belonging to Trisakti University students had their tires deflated for parking on the sidewalk of Kyai Tapa street, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The action was carried out directly by officers from the West Jakarta Transportation Agency (Sudinhub).
This step is expected to create a deterrent effect for violators and prevent them from repeating the offense.
"The sanction of deflating tires from morning to noon has been applied to approximately 80 two-wheeled vehicles," said Danu, Head of the Grogol Petamburan Sudinhub Implementing Unit, as reported by Antara (24/06).
He also regretted the students' decision to park illegally. This is because the campus has already provided a parking area with an affordable rate.
"The campus itself has provided a parking area with a flat rate of Rp 2,000. So there is no longer an excuse for students to park on the sidewalk," he later stated.
He also admitted to having coordinated with the campus to follow up on the students' habit of parking illegally on the Kyai Tapa sidewalk. Therefore, he assured that they will continue to enforce regulations and conduct surveillance in the future.
"The prohibition will later be supplemented with banners forbidding parking on the sidewalk," he later added.
It should be noted that in the Regional Regulation (Perda) of DKI Jakarta Province Number 5 of 2014 concerning Transportation, article 62 paragraph 3 states that for motor vehicles that stop or park in unauthorized places, the following actions can be taken:
Parking has long been an issue highlighted by members of the DPRD (Regional People's Representative Council). This is because the local government revenue (PAD) from this sector is still very low due to leakages.
Therefore, they are pushing for the on-street parking system to be changed to use digital and cashless payments. So that the money collected does not disappear.
"Digitalization and cashless are mandatory and non-negotiable. There should no longer be any excuse of it being expensive when it comes to digitalization," said Wa Ode Herlina, a member of the Special Committee (Pansus) for Parking of the DKI Jakarta DPRD some time ago.
