KatadataOTO – Recently, a video went viral on social media. It depicted a road rage incident involving a Daihatsu Grand Max driver with a Lalamove sticker.
Citing a post from the Instagram account @dashcam_owners_indonesia, two four-wheeled vehicle drivers can be seen in a verbal altercation.
However, the Lalamove driver pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the other driver.
The incident occurred on the Cipularang Toll Road at KM 95 towards Bandung, West Java on Saturday (07/06) at 3:30 PM WIB.
“The Grand Max driver (license plate) B 2850 UFZ did not accept being overtaken and intimidated the victim by chasing and pointing a pistol at them,” wrote the Instagram account.
After being threatened with the firearm, the dashcam owner immediately ran to their car. Then, they drove away from the Lalamove driver's road rage.
Seeing the incident above, several parties have spoken out. Such as Jusri Pulubuhu, Founder of Jakarta Defensive Driving Consulting (JDDC).
According to him, the road rage incident by the Lalamove driver could actually have been anticipated by both parties.
“Because we are in a public space, which is the road. We must also have manners and empathy,” Jusri told KatadataOTO on Monday (09/06).
Jusri explained that if a driver lacks manners or ethics, it has the potential to cause conflict.
For example, fistfights, cutting each other off on the highway, or even pointing a pistol as the Lalamove driver did.
In addition, Jusri also advised drivers not to feel they are the most correct. And then end up blaming others.
“When disturbed, for example, we think 'wow, they are wrong' and then get upset. Then the driver's cognitive ability will be impaired,” he continued.
Then Jusri also stated that if involved in a conflict with another driver, it is best not to prolong it.
“Just let it go, don't try to impose a sanction or anything. Because as soon as you think they are wrong, it will affect your emotional capacity,” Jusri asserted.
He also said that if you get emotional or provoked, it will lead to undesirable outcomes.
“When you're emotional, I've said it many times, your cognitive abilities, logic, and the references in your head as a knowledgeable and educated person will be impaired,” Jusri concluded.
