KatadataOTO – PT Motul Indonesia Energy (MIE) recorded significant year-on-year sales growth. The French lubricant manufacturer has received a positive response from the public.

This proves that the motor vehicle oil market in the country still has considerable potential.

Especially in the premium segment, where Motul competes and continues to grow.

“Overall, this year has been very good for Motul. In this fifth year, we were able to record growth of over 35 percent,” said Welmart Purba, Managing Director of PT MIE in Jakarta (18/12).

He further stated that Motul Indonesia has set several other records. It is hoped that this will serve as motivation for next year.

As a reminder, the automotive market in the country has faced significant challenges this year. New car and motorcycle sales in 2025 have seen a deep correction.

“Last November was the first time Motul surpassed 1 million liters in a single month. So it's very motivating for us in 2026,” explained Welmart.

According to him, the Indonesian automotive market is ready to accept premium oil products. This aligns with the products offered by Motul.

An example is the ease of seeing large scooters like the Yamaha Nmax on the streets. This can be seen as a sign that consumers in the country are evolving.

The lubricant industry itself depends on the production of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles. The more manufacturers release premium models, the more lubricant manufacturers will follow suit.

“Whether it's premium or not is driven by two-wheel manufacturers. The brand's task is also to build a premium (image),” said Welmart.

It was then stated that the premium product in question is not just about price. However, top-notch quality can provide economic benefits.

The latest Yamaha Nmax is known to be recommended by the manufacturer to use SAE 10W-40 lubricant. Meanwhile, Motul offers a 5W-40 full synthetic oil.

The difference is that the Motul brand is claimed to be more economical. This is because the product's service life is believed to be longer than that of competitor products.

Recently, they just launched a gear oil for automatic motorcycles. The new product is here to meet the needs of consumers, especially scooter users in Indonesia.
