Public Works Minister Plans to Offer Toll Rate Discounts in June - July 2025

KatadataOTO – The purchasing power of the Indonesian people in the first five months of 2025 is still sluggish. This has prompted the government to provide a stimulus.

One of them is toll road tariff discounts. The plan is for this assistance to be given in June–July 2025, coinciding with the children's school holidays.

Currently, the Minister of PW (Public Works) is discussing this plan with the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT).

“We are starting discussions with the BUJT to provide toll tariff discounts that will likely be at least the same as what we provided during Lebaran 2025,” said Dody Hanggodo, Minister of PW, as quoted by Antara on Monday (26/05).

Furthermore, Dody explained that they will gather all BUJTs in Indonesia. This way, the government's plan to accommodate four-wheeled vehicle owners can proceed smoothly.

Dody also stated that the decision to grant toll tariff discounts must be discussed with the BUJTs, considering this will affect their revenue as both investors and toll road operators.

Additionally, it needs to be discussed whether or not there will be additional compensation from the government to the BUJTs regarding this toll tariff discount policy.

“The provision of toll tariff discounts is indeed a directive from the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs during a coordination meeting, to provide incentives from all ministries/agencies to maintain high economic growth,” said Dody.

Meanwhile, the Minister of PW plans to announce details regarding the toll tariff discounts, such as the duration and which sections will be affected, in the near future.

For your information, the toll tariff discounts will be given to approximately 110 million drivers. This program is expected to reduce land transportation costs.

It will also support economic activities in various regions, thereby stimulating the economy again.

As a note, the toll tariff discount during Lebaran 2025 reached 20 percent and was valid for eight days.

The details are that it was given for four days during the 2025 Lebaran exodus and the remaining four days during the return flow.

This assistance was also valid on all toll road sections on the islands of Java and Sumatra.

Thus, this policy is expected to ease the travel costs for people wanting to return to their hometowns or go on vacation.
