Upholding its promise to the Ministry of Industry, Toyota is committed to not laying off its employees.
KatadataOTO – Some time ago, the Ministry of Industry urged several automotive manufacturers, namely Toyota, Daihatsu, and Suzuki, not to carry out reductions or layoffs (PHK) of employees.
Amid various industrial and economic challenges, layoffs are often the path taken by manufacturers. However, a representative of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) is committed to maintaining conditions so that layoffs do not occur.
It should be noted that Toyota is one of the brands that has established factories in the country, involving a lot of Indonesian labor and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the car manufacturing process.
Therefore, layoffs could have a negative impact on many people both inside and outside the Toyota factory.
In response, Toyota affirmed its commitment not to lay off employees during difficult times.
“We always value what is called long-term employment,” said Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT TAM, when met in Tangerang some time ago.
Nevertheless, he believes that assistance from the government is still awaited through policies or regulations related to four-wheeled vehicles.
He cited the implementation of tax incentives for Low Cost Green Car (LCGC). The program has now been extended again until 2031.
“We hope the government can immediately formulate and discuss, of course, with all stakeholders, including the industry,” Ernando emphasized.
The implementation of the LCGC incentive, which was in effect when the pandemic hit in 2020, was said to have successfully helped boost sales figures and would have a positive impact on the entire workforce. Therefore, a similar policy needs to be implemented considering the current conditions.
“We request the government to discuss with all stakeholders, and then provide support, both fiscal and non-fiscal,” Ernando emphasized.
For your information, Toyota has already marketed two LCGC models, namely the Calya and Agya. Both are offered at prices from Rp 180 million up to Rp 200 million.
At the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025, PT TAM launched the Agya Stylix to provide a new variation for consumers, priced at Rp 200 million.
Based on the Agya G type, the Stylix is equipped with several advantages such as the New Agya Stylix with a GR Aeropackage, similar to the Agya SGR Sport. Thus, the vehicle's appearance looks even sportier and tougher.
