KatadataOTO – After presenting the e Vitara, Suzuki is known to be preparing a new electric car product for consumers next year.

If previously it was a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), this time Suzuki's electric car will fill the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment, which is one of the consumers' favorites.

Reported by Gaadiwaadi, this MPV will be Suzuki's second electric car in the Indian market after the e Vitara.

There, the new model believed to be Suzuki's electric MPV is registered with the code name YMC.

“According to available information, the Maruti Suzuki YMC EV will go on sale in September 2026,” wrote the Gaadiwaadi report, quoted on Sunday (28/12).

There is no detailed information regarding the exterior design or technical specifications of the Suzuki electric MPV.

However, many believe that its battery configuration and materials will not be much different from those used in the Suzuki e Vitara.

The Suzuki electric MPV will use the same base as the e Vitara, namely the 27PL Skateboard Platform. It should be noted that this was previously developed by Maruti Suzuki together with Toyota.

Thanks to the use of that platform, the Suzuki electric car can be equipped with a 49 kWh or 61 kWh capacity battery.

The top variant with the largest capacity is claimed to enable the car to travel up to 543 kilometers on a single full charge.

Meanwhile, the electric motor and drivetrain configuration will likely be largely adopted from their first electric car, the e Vitara.

In India, the Suzuki electric MPV will compete with the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Meanwhile, if it is introduced in Indonesia, its strongest rival currently is the BYD M6.

The BYD M6 is an electric-powered MPV option with a competitive price tag. Aided by incentives, its price is in the range of Rp 380 million to over Rp 400 million on the road in Jakarta.

If it enters Indonesia, the newest product from Suzuki will fill the class above the Ertiga with a higher price tag.

For now, only the Suzuki e Vitara electric car has been confirmed to enter the Indonesian market in 2026. This model will be their first Electric Vehicle (EV) offered to domestic consumers.
