Speaking of the powertrain, the Urban Cruiser EV will be available with two LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery options, which are said to be more cost-effective yet durable and are widely used by Chinese manufacturers.

Arguably, the use of these batteries is an important factor that could make the Urban Cruiser EV's price competitive compared to the bZ4X. The Toyota bZ4X uses a different type of battery, namely Lithium-ion.

The first type uses a 49 kWh capacity battery with front-wheel drive or FWD (Front Wheel Drive), while the 61 kWh type is offered in FWD and AWD (All Wheel Drive) versions.

In the AWD type, Toyota has embedded an additional 48 kW electric motor, complete with Downhill Assist Control and Trail and Snow driving modes to maintain vehicle control on extreme terrain.

Unfortunately, there is no detailed information yet regarding the offered driving range. The price of the Urban Cruiser EV will also only be revealed towards mid-2025.

In Indonesia, Toyota currently only offers one electric car model, the bZ4X. However, PT TAM (Toyota Astra Motor) has confirmed that a new EV model will be brought to Indonesia this year.

It is not yet clear, as the majority of Toyota's electric cars are marketed exclusively in China. Meanwhile, the Urban Cruiser EV has just been introduced in the European market.

However, the Urban Cruiser EV has a chance of being introduced, considering the model fills the SUV segment which is very popular with consumers. With the use of LFP batteries, which are claimed to be more competitive, its price tag could be below the bZ4X (Rp 1.1 billion).
