While he was trying to make a U-turn, Kluivert came at high speed and directly hit the driver's side door.

“The car (the BMW driven by Kluivert) came so fast, we didn't have time to see it,” said Hanny, Marten Putman's wife, to The Independent on Tuesday (7/1).

The local court declared Patrick Kluivert guilty. He was then sentenced to a total of 240 hours of community service.
“There is something broken inside me. I will never be able to be completely happy again,” said Kluivert.
After the fatal accident, Ajax Amsterdam fans indeed taunted Patrick Kluivert on the field with shouts of 'murderer'.
