KatadataOTO briefly tested the Mitsubishi Destinator SUV on the sidelines of the GIIAS 2025 event; here's the review.

Brief Test Drive of the Mitsubishi Destinator at GIIAS 2025
Katadata OTO Rating:

Sporty design, excellent performance, comfortable cabin, functional features

The driving position is not ergonomic

Right in front of us was an additional tray integrated with the front seat, which can be used to place items and one cup holder.

There are AC vents on the upper side of the second-row doors. This made the cabin temperature feel even, even though we were sitting in the back.

During the trip, the car went over asphalt with speed traps in several road areas.

At a speed of around 70 km/h, the car felt rigid crossing the speed traps. Comfort in the second row was also maintained.

Then the car was taken to a red dirt field area. There, the Mitsubishi Destinator was used for maneuvering and driven at high speed using Gravel mode.

Sitting in the second row, the highlight for us was that the Mitsubishi Destinator felt rigid and not wobbly, even when tackling the contours of a dry and bumpy dirt road.

The suspension is set in such a way that the car's handling does not sacrifice too much comfort. This is in line with Mitsubishi's claim of wanting to offer an SUV with the sensation of a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV).

On the return route to ICE BSD City, KatadataOTO got the chance to drive. At that time, heavy rain suddenly fell, and we tried the Wet driving mode.

It should be noted that when Wet mode is active, the Traction Control in the Destinator is claimed to function more optimally to avoid slipping.

Then, the Steering Effort or steering wheel control is claimed to feel heavier.

We felt this when pushing the Mitsubishi Destinator. As a result, the car felt safer crossing wet roads in heavy rain conditions.

Another thing we found very useful was the automatic wipers. The component immediately activated to wipe the windshield upon detecting rain.

The wiper speed also adjusts to the intensity of the rainfall. So there's no need to bother adjusting the wipers while driving.

Conclusion

The Mitsubishi Destinator offers the driving experience and appearance of an SUV while still trying to provide the comfort of a family car.

Features like the driving modes and automatic wipers are very helpful for the driver in handling the car.

The Mitsubishi Destinator's cabin is very spacious, making it suitable for family use.

In that brief opportunity, one thing we noted was the less comfortable driving position for drivers with a height of around 150 cm.
