First Impressions: Driving the Jetour T2 SUV Off-road

The performance and comfort of the Jetour T2 were directly tested in the Pagedangan off-road area, BSD City, Tangerang.

Katadata OTO Rating:

Robust and unique design, excellent performance, comfortable cabin

The driving position is not very ergonomic, and adjusting the mirrors is quite inconvenient.

However, the steering feels light, and combined with a less-than-ergonomic driving position, it reduces confidence when tackling the offroad area.

Arguably, the Jetour T2 is more suitable for tackling light or not-too-extreme offroad terrain.

The use of a DCT transmission is considered less compatible for being stationary at low speeds when going through heavy offroad terrain, as it is prone to overheating.

In addition, KatadataOTO also experienced sitting in the second-row seats while the Jetour T2 was tackling the offroad area.

The suspension character is quite soft, so jolts in the cabin can be minimized and passenger comfort is maintained.

Then, on the return trip from BSD City to Cilandak Town Square, passengers were kept comfortable thanks to the spacious cabin and the availability of AC in the center console area.

An SUV with a boxy offroad concept is suitable for consumers looking for a tough-styled vehicle that also offers cabin comfort.

Conclusion

The Jetour T2 offers capable power for light offroading thanks to its embedded driving modes.

Furthermore, when sitting in the passenger seat, the spacious cabin and soft suspension are a distinct advantage, especially for long-distance travel.

A note for us is that the driving position feels less ergonomic for shorter female drivers.

Additionally, the Jetour T2's side mirror adjustments must be accessed through the head unit, which requires some getting used to for the driver.
