BYD Atto 1 is the first EV to seriously challenge the two reigning kings of the LCGC segment, Toyota Agya and Daihatsu Ayla.
The BYD Atto 1 has an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty. If the battery health drops below 70 percent before 8 years, it will be replaced with a new one.
The first maintenance is done after 5,000 km or 3 months. Subsequent services are at 20,000 km or 1 year, and repeat at intervals of 20,000 km/once a year.
Electricity consumption is 30 kWh × the electricity tariff per kWh (around Rp 1,447 for home charging). A full charge costs around Rp 43,000, equivalent to a little over 4 liters of Pertalite, with a range of approximately 300 km.
The BYD Atto 1 is a serious challenger to LCGCs and other EVs in its class. With its various advantages, it shouldn't be a problem for this sporty hatchback to be favored by consumers.
What BYD must do is maintain quality, build an EV ecosystem, and convince potential buyers to try an electric car. News from GIIAS 2025 indicates that the Atto 1 will only start being delivered to consumers in October 2025, and it is reportedly already in demand by online taxi businesses.
