Toyota Becomes the Top Vehicle Exporter in 2024

2024 car exports experienced a significant decline, with the drop in CKD shipments being the most noticeable.

KatadataOTO – Manufacturers in Indonesia not only produce vehicles for domestic needs but also for export to neighboring countries. Throughout 2024, the number of car exports has also been under pressure.
Based on Gaikindo data, the number of CBU car exports from January to December 2024 was 472,194 units. That figure is down 32,940 units from the previous year's 505,134 units, a decrease of 6.5 percent.
Toyota is the largest contributor to CBU vehicle exports. Over 12 months, they have shipped at least 166,531 unit vehicles to various countries.
That number is up 28,870 units, or about 21 percent, from the previous year. Throughout 2023, they only managed to release 157,511 vehicles.
Daihatsu is in second place with a total export of 110,334 units, a decrease of 47,177 units (-30 percent). In 2023, the Japanese manufacturer released 157,511 units.
Third place is occupied by Mitsubishi Motors, which exported 87,896 vehicles. This figure grew by 7,377 units, or 9.2 percent, from the previous year's 80,519 units.
Hyundai was in fourth place with 62,443 units, an increase of 8,005 units or 14.7 percent. In 2023, they only released 65,438 units.
Then Suzuki rounds out the top five brands with the largest exports in 2024 thanks to shipments of 19,141 units. That record declined by 19,426 units, or 50.4 percent, from the previous year's 38,557 units.
Meanwhile, the number of CKD car exports was 46,311 sets, down 29.6 percent or 19,470 sets compared to 2023. At that time, car manufacturers in the country had shipped 65,781 sets.
Mitsubishi Motors became the manufacturer that shipped the most CKD with a record of 31,866 sets, a decrease of 1,438 sets or about 4.3 percent. Whereas in the previous year, they released 33,304 sets.
Then in second place is Hyundai, which shipped 7,801 sets. This is the first time they have exported vehicles in CKD form.
Suzuki is in third place for shipping 6,612 sets, an increase of 199.5 percent from the previous year, which was only 2,208 sets.
Meanwhile, Wuling is in fourth place after releasing 32 sets.
