KatadataOTO – RMA Indonesia as the agent for Mahindra handed over four units of the Scorpio 4x4 double cabin pickup to the Ministry of Defense. This handover is the result of their collaboration with PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara.

The four models are trusted to assist the government in tackling the flash floods and landslides in Sumatra. The handover of this fleet is a concrete step by the company to help the government strengthen its response capacity in the field.

“We uphold our social responsibility as part of the Indonesian community. We hope that these Mahindra vehicle units, known for being tough on all terrains, can speed up logistics distribution and reach our fellow citizens,” affirmed Toto Suharto, Country Manager of RMA Indonesia.

These operational vehicles are indeed designed to handle difficult terrain and are expected to be an effective solution in facing logistical challenges in the affected areas, where road access is often cut off or buried by landslides.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General TNI Tri Budi Utomo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, stated that the vehicles would be taken directly to the disaster-affected areas. He also hopes that logistics distribution will be easier because the vehicles have a tough performance,

"Of course, we hope they can help in the three affected areas," he said.

The Mahindra Scorpio Double Cabin is equipped with a 2,200 cc turbo diesel engine. The powertrain is capable of producing 140 hp and 320 Nm of torque.

Interestingly, he also revealed that the donated vehicles are already equipped with a fuel efficiency system. With this, it is hoped that the vehicles can operate for longer periods.

"We hope the vehicles can be more operational compared to fuel-guzzling vehicles," he said.

Not only that, Mahindra has also installed a 4x4 drive system. So that drivers can face a variety of even the most extreme road conditions.

This is important because evacuation routes are constantly changing from damaged asphalt to extreme muddy terrain. The vehicle also has a rear cabin that allows for carrying logistics to be distributed to the disaster-affected communities.
