KatadataOTO – The latest generation of the Toyota RAV4 hybrid car is suspected to be registered in Indonesia. This was revealed from the data of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI).

The exterior appearance of the Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is listed in the Official Gazette of Industrial Design No. 80/DI/2025 with application number DI A00202407405.

Meanwhile, the name of the design applicant is Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, located in Japan.

In the global market, the latest Toyota RAV4 was officially introduced to consumers in May 2025. Its appearance at a glance is still similar to the previous version, but there are quite significant changes such as the grille design.

The grille's character is similar to the New Corolla Cross sold in Indonesia, using a honeycomb pattern.

However, the headlight design now features a bold hammerhead concept that enhances its elegant feel.

The latest generation of the Toyota RAV4 PHEV is equipped with Toyota's latest developed battery with a capacity of 22.7 kWh, offering a pure electric range of up to 100 kilometers on a full charge.

The PHEV variant is available in two drivetrain options: Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD). There is also another variant with full hybrid technology.

It should be noted that the Toyota RAV4 name has been absent from the official website of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM).

The fifth generation of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) has the potential to be replaced by the newest Toyota RAV4 variant in the future.

For context, the Toyota RAV4 PHEV was previously offered at a fairly high price of IDR 1.15 billion, almost matching the imported bZ4X electric car at IDR 1.2 billion.

If it comes to Indonesia, Toyota will need to think about a suitable pricing strategy. Considering that PHEVs are now popular again with prices below IDR 1 billion due to the presence of many brands from China.

It is not impossible for Toyota to introduce a hybrid version of the RAV4, which is believed to have a price below the PHEV option.

To date, Toyota has marketed a number of hybrid models in Indonesia, including the Kijang Innova Zenix, Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross, and Veloz Hybrid.

However, Toyota has not yet confirmed the arrival of the Toyota RAV4 to the Indonesian market in the future.
