Auto2000 acknowledges that the 3 percent government incentive successfully attracted public interest in buying hybrid cars.

KatadataOTO – Auto2000 reveals that the high sales figures for hybrid cars at Toyota are inseparable from government incentives. Therefore, the plan to stop this assistance could potentially impact demand.
This is because vehicle sales in Indonesia are currently experiencing a decline, making policy changes very sensitive.
“I think the subsidy for hybrid cars is very helpful because the sales of the Innova Zenix alone have remained relatively stable. So, in my opinion, the government should consider incentives as a form of support for future electrification,” said Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Chief Executive of Auto2000.
He also revealed that hybrid car sales of the Toyota Alphard, Kijang Innova Zenix, and Yaris Cross have reached around 1,500 to 2,000 units per month. This number is equivalent to 20 percent of their total market share.
“In the future, I think Toyota's hybrid car sales could reach 25 to 30 percent,” he added.
It was previously reported that a 3 percent incentive for hybrid cars has been in effect in Indonesia. This rule is stated in the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 12 of 2025.
Although the amount is not as large as the incentive for electric vehicles, it is claimed to have a significant positive impact. Moreover, this program has a broad scope, covering hybrid, mild hybrid, and even PHEV.
This also makes it easier for the public to obtain environmentally friendly vehicles that suit their needs and financial conditions.
However, the regulation states that not all hybrid cars can receive this benefit. The government has stipulated that only vehicles with a minimum Local Content Level (TKDN) of 40 percent can receive the 3 percent Government-Borne Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM DTP) incentive.
The incentive will end at the end of this year, so it is possible that manufacturers will adjust prices after the program concludes. The government is also reportedly not planning to extend the program.
