KatadataOTO – BAIC has officially launched a refreshed version of the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) X55-II. One of the most striking changes is the Beijing logo on the fascia and rear being replaced with BAIC.

This decision was made considering suggestions and feedback from consumers. The Beijing name was also said to be identical to the city, so it was changed to BAIC to strengthen the brand image in Indonesia.

It should be noted, the BAIC X55-II was launched last year for around IDR 480 million. However, there is now a new variant, the Lite, sold for around IDR 380 million, which is expected to attract more consumers.

The older version has sold 70 units throughout 2024. According to BAIC, owners of last year's X55-II can request a logo change from Beijing to BAIC.

“So we can retrofit it, we will provide a special price. But only for the front and rear bumpers,” said Dhani Yahya, Chief Operating Officer of BAIC Indonesia when met in Tangerang, Tuesday (29/04).

According to Dhani, the emblem cannot be removed from the unit. Therefore, the emblem replacement is done per panel. However, Dhani emphasized that the parts will be supplied depending on demand.

Unfortunately, he was still reluctant to reveal further details regarding the price of the BAIC X55-II emblem replacement.

“We'll see first, if those 70 consumers want to change it, we will provide it,” Dhani affirmed.

For your information, the lowest trim of the BAIC X55-II  has received several adjustments. Such as the absence of a panoramic sunroof and non-electric seat adjustments.

Then there is an additional color for both trims, which is black. Considering that color is one of the favorites among Indonesian consumers.

Meanwhile, the highest trim, or Prime, has the latest features including an auto tailgate and a 360 camera.

However, both variants are already equipped with a Remote Start Engine to make it easier for users when using their car.

Regarding after-sales service, BAIC customers can enjoy free service maintenance for four years or 80,000 km and a vehicle warranty of 150,000 km, equivalent to five years.

Then in the entertainment sector, there is the addition of integrated Apple CarPlay connectivity. Meanwhile, the powertrain remains unchanged, still using a 1,500 cc turbo engine.
