KatadataOTO – Chinese manufacturer, BAIC presents the latest version of the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) X55-II. At its launch, the price was Rp 487 million OTR (On The Road).

This time, the BAIC X55-II facelift is officially launched to Indonesian consumers with several changes, especially the logo embedded on the front fascia and rear of the car.

Initially, it read Beijing, but this time it has been changed to BAIC to strengthen the Chinese brand's name in the country.

Then in terms of price, the top-tier model is sold for Rp 429 million, a decrease of Rp 50 million compared to the initial price offered to the public at its launch.

The newest type introduced is the BAIC X55-II Lite, priced at Rp 380 million. Some features have been adjusted, such as the seat settings are still manual, the side mirrors are not electric, and there is no panoramic roof.

Meanwhile, the BAIC X55-II Prime variant is equipped with the latest features such as a panoramic sunroof, auto tailgate, and a 360 camera to assist the driver when maneuvering while driving.

“From our discussions, we saw the need to bring a new variant of this vehicle. Most importantly, the pricing provides the flexibility to reach a wider market,” said Dhani Yahya, Chief Operating Officer of BAIC Indonesia in Tangerang, Tuesday (29/04).

In both variants, a Remote Start Engine feature is included, making it easier for users to operate the vehicle.

The price correction is confirmed not to reduce vehicle features or services to all BAIC customers. Because there is still a free service maintenance facility for four years or 80,000 km.

Then, the vehicle warranty can be enjoyed by BAIC car owners for five years or 150,000 km, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

The BAIC X55-II Facelift then gets additional connectivity to support the entertainment sector, with Apple CarPlay already integrated.

There are no changes to the powertrain; it still uses a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine. This configuration is claimed to produce 185 hp and a peak torque of 305 Nm.

For your information, BAIC is one of the Chinese manufacturers that entered the Indonesian market last year. Its strategy is similar to Jetour's; they prefer to bring in conventional cars first rather than electric cars.

Another model offered besides the X55-II is the BAIC BJ-40 Plus, an off-road SUV with a 2,000 cc DOHC engine. The model is planned to be locally assembled starting in April 2025.
