KatadataOTO – Throughout 2025, BYD and Denza have received a positive response from the public. Their total sales have become the largest compared to other electric car manufacturers.

They are optimistic that they can maintain this situation in 2026. Moreover, there are various new strategies to ensure sales remain high.

“We are optimistic that BYD and Denza's market share can reach 25 percent of the total electric car market in the country,” said Eagle Zhao, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia

To achieve this, the company is ready to open more networks. Thus, it is hoped that the public can more easily get the units they need.

“We will open more dealerships in Indonesia. So that the total network will reach 150 outlets,” he added.

Not only that, BYD Indonesia will also open its own leasing company in 2026. Its presence will provide more benefits compared to other institutions.

“So we are in the final stages of establishing a vehicle financing company,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia.

It should be noted that from January to November 2025, BYD Indonesia successfully sold at least 47,300 units. This record is enough for them to capture a 57 percent market share of electric vehicles in the country.

In November 2025, they achieved wholesales of 9,481 units. That number was only surpassed by Toyota, which shipped 21,642 units, and Daihatsu with 11,684 units.

It is said that the figures achieved by BYD and Denza have already surpassed the achievements of all BEVs in the country during 2024.

Because last year, the sales of all electric cars in the country only reached around 43 thousand units in one year.

However, the electric car market next year will face several challenges. This is because BYD Indonesia is still a manufacturer receiving incentives from the government.

This assistance makes the price of the cars they sell very competitive. However, Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, revealed that the government plans not to provide the incentives.
