KatadataOTO – BYD is preparing a new product in the double-cabin pickup segment. Unlike the Shark 6, the newest model appears to use the Dynasty series design language.

Its front appearance is identical to cars in that series, such as the Atto 3. There is a black-colored grille equipped with a chromatic ornament connecting the two headlights.

In comparison, BYD Shark 6 has a more rugged and assertive exterior design thanks to the large BYD emblem on the grille area, similar to the Ford Ranger Raptor.

Meanwhile, the BYD double-cabin pickup has smoother curves, especially in the front area of the vehicle. The size of its rear bed also looks smaller.

In the patent images registered by BYD, its size appears quite identical to the double-cabin Toyota Hilux GR Sport.

However, no ornaments or body kits are seen attached to the entire body of BYD's newest product.

BYD's newest pickup has the potential to fill the segment below the Shark 6, which was previously introduced in Australia.

Reporting from Carnewschina, the exterior patent images of the BYD pickup were registered in the European Union through the EU Intellectual Property Office.

This model is touted to be the entry-level version of the Shark 6. Like its predecessor, this pickup is said to be targeting the international market.

Looking at its design language, this pickup could be considered a ute or double-cabin version of the BYD Song Plus, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with Plug-in Hybrid technology.

Unfortunately, there is no further information regarding the technical specifications of the pickup yet.

However, considering its segment is below the Shark 6, it is believed there will be several differences, such as battery capacity, motor performance, and drivetrain options.

For your information, the BYD Shark 6 has already debuted in Thailand in mid-2025. Signaling its imminent arrival in the Indonesian market.

There, its price is around 1.69 million Baht, or about Rp 824.8 million in rupiah currency. The BYD Shark 6 has the potential to be the first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) pickup in the country.

Meanwhile, the price of the new BYD pickup will likely be below the Shark 6. Making it an attractive option for consumers who want to use an electrified pickup.
