KatadataOTO – To present cars that can truly protect drivers, Chery Group has equipped itself with various facilities. One of them is the Crash Test Center in Wuhu, China.
Thanks to this facility, all Chery brands can conduct crash tests before launching products to the market. The hope is that the public can feel protected when using their cars.
During the Chery Brand User Summit 2025, participants were given the opportunity to witness a crash test firsthand. In this test, the manufacturer used two Tiggo 9 units that collided at a speed of 50 km per hour.
In the test, two units were directed on a special track to simulate common road incidents. Because the collision angle was unique, the main protection at the front could not fully absorb the impact energy.
This makes the test not only a challenge to the rigidity of the body structure but also a comprehensive assessment of Chery's ability to design impact force distribution paths, coordinate restraint systems, and the activation speed of the post-collision rescue system.
Shortly after the test, participants of the Chery Brand User Summit 2025 were invited to see the crashed cars up close. From the front, both units indeed suffered very severe damage.
Although the airbags deployed, there was no deformation inside the cabin, seemingly indicating that the driver remained protected during the accident.
This was also shown in the analysis results presented by Chery shortly after the test was conducted. There are at least six important points to be used as a reference.
Chery Group claims these results demonstrate the reliability of the overall safety system, from the coordination of the restraint system to post-collision rescue access.
