KatadataOTO – The Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is the first electrified model presented by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) for consumers in the country.

Priced at around Rp 299 million, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is expected to reach more Indonesian consumers.

It should be noted that the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is built on the DNGA platform, which is already used in several other models, including the Xenia.

Daihatsu has not denied that the technology in the Rocky Hybrid could potentially be applied to other products, including the Xenia.

“Technically, it's possible. But just wait for the right time,” said Anjar Rosjadi, Design Engineering Division Head, RND PT ADM in Tangerang, on Tuesday (25/11).

He emphasized that Daihatsu will focus on developing vehicles to be more efficient and of high quality, while maintaining competitive and affordable prices for Indonesian consumers.

Using the DNGA platform, which can be combined with hybrid technology, Daihatsu presents a range of vehicles with these characteristics.

“We ensure that the vehicle's structure, the position of passengers or the driver, the engine, and other components are placed optimally,” Anjar affirmed.

If the e-Smart Hybrid technology from the Rocky Hybrid is applied to models like the Xenia, consumers will have more electrified Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) options.

The latest is the Toyota Veloz Hybrid. The lowest variant of this model is offered at around Rp 299 million on the road in Jakarta.

However, Daihatsu is still reluctant to elaborate on the plan to implement the Rocky Hybrid's technology in the Xenia.

For your information, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid uses a 1,200 cc three-cylinder engine combined with a lithium-ion battery.

The battery in the Rocky Hybrid acts as a generator, producing electricity that is then stored in the battery as the power source to move the car.

The power storage unit is claimed to have high durability and energy density. Its small dimensions allow it to be easily embedded in the rear of the compact SUV.

Additionally, an eight-year battery warranty is provided, so consumers don't need to worry.

The Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid can be seen directly at the booth during the GJAW 2025 exhibition, with units available for test drives.
