KatadataOTO – BYD's premium sub-brand, Denza, has started taking orders for their newest hybrid SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) in China, the N9. There will be two options, PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle).

It should be noted that Denza has already entered the Indonesian market, offering one electric-powered MPV model, the D9. Therefore, there is a high chance that other models will be introduced.

Additionally, there are already incentives for hybrid cars from the government. BYD itself has confirmed that it is not ruling out the possibility of bringing new technology vehicles like PHEVs to the country.

The Denza N9 is a large SUV with dimensions of L x W x H at 5,258 mm x 2,030 mm x 1,830 mm and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. For comparison, this is even longer than the Kia EV9 electric car at 5,015 mm x 1,980 mm x 1,780 mm.

Just like the Denza Z9 GT exhibited at IIMS 2025, the N9 will be equipped with the ability to perform a crab walk. Other additions include a tank turn feature and DiSus-A technology.

Their latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) feature, God’s Eye or DiPilot 300, has also been embedded in the car.

In terms of specifications, the Denza N9 PHEV is armed with a 2,000 cc Turbo engine, three electric motors of 200 kW-240 kW, and a Blade Battery with a capacity of 46.9 kWh.

This configuration allows the Denza N9's 0-100 km/h acceleration to be achieved in a short time of three seconds.

As it is a PHEV with a rechargeable and large-capacity battery, the Denza N9 has a range of 200 km when relying solely on battery power. Meanwhile, its comprehensive cruising range is 1,300 km.

Moving to the interior, BYD has not forgotten to provide various modern facilities such as a 17.3-inch display, a 13.2-inch instrument panel, and a 13.2-inch co-pilot entertainment screen.

The Denza N9 is offered from 450,000 yuan to 550,000 yuan, equivalent to Rp 1.02 billion to Rp 1.25 billion when converted to the rupiah exchange rate.

If it enters Indonesia, one of its competitors in the premium segment will be the Mazda CX-80 PHEV SUV. Its price tag is also not far off, in the range of Rp 1 billion.

However, in comparison, the pure electric range of the CX-80 is still lower than the Denza N9's, at 60 km without gasoline assistance.
