KatadataOTO – The locally assembled Toyota bZ4X electric car will be sold in Indonesia this year. The model was previously imported as a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit from Japan.

According to Toyota, the specifications for the Indonesian market will follow the global version. However, the plan is to only offer the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) type.

Looking at the Jakarta Samsat PKB website, there are several bZ4X variants with a Motor Vehicle Sales Value (NJKB) ranging from Rp 751 million to Rp 817 million.

It should be noted that this figure does not include other costs such as vehicle tax. So it is not the final selling price.

Besides the unit with an NJKB of Rp 957 million, there is a model with the code BZ4XAT XEAM11RMWDHQW which has a sales value of Rp 751 million.

Next is the BZ4XAWDXEAM15RMWDHQW valued at Rp 803 million, then the BZ4XTURXEAM17RMWDHNW, suspected to be the Touring variant, at Rp 817 million.

There is a chance the bZ4X electric car could eventually be sold for under Rp 1 billion, and not be much different from its closest rival, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. That model is now locally assembled.

For comparison, the price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as of August 2025 starts from Rp 738.3 million. Meanwhile, the highest type is Rp 844.6 million, and consumers can also choose the Batik variant for Rp 911.2 million.

Previously, PT Toyota Manufacturing Motor Indonesia (TMMIN) confirmed that the bZ4X will be locally assembled before the end of 2025.

The Local Component Level (TKDN) target for the locally assembled bZ4X is 40 percent. This fulfills one of the requirements to receive the Value Added Tax (VAT) incentive from the government.

“The local content, according to the LCEV (Low Carbon Emission Vehicle) calculation (regulation), is 40 percent,” said Nandi Julyanto, President Director of PT TMMIN in Jakarta some time ago.

If it receives the incentive, the final selling price of the Toyota bZ4X can be more competitive and ready to compete with other rivals in the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) crossover segment.

Currently, there are quite a few electric-powered SUV crossover options in the country. Among them are the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Chery E5, Neta X, and Kia EV6.

The cheapest is the Chery E5. After an update, its price dropped drastically from Rp 505 million to Rp 399 million on the road in Jakarta.
