KatadataOTO – Competition in the hybrid car segment in Indonesia is quite tight. Many manufacturers are discounting the prices of their products.
It's not just manufacturers from China applying this. Japanese producers are also taking a similar approach.
Recently, Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) lowered the price of the Honda HR-V Hybrid, which was recently launched in the country.
The environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicle is marketed at a price below the previous highest variant and under IDR 500 million.
This surprising decision certainly gives rise to various speculations. Many parties believe that Japanese manufacturers are starting to dare to join the price war.
This is seen as a potential threat to the existence of hybrid cars already sold by Chinese manufacturers.
However, manufacturers from the Land of the Bamboo Curtain are not too worried about the move made by Honda.
As is being felt by Jaecoo Indonesia. They are not afraid to compete with the manufacturer bearing the upright H logo.
“No (we're not worried), we are confident enough to compete in Indonesia,” said Ryan Ferdiean Tirto, Head of Product at Jaecoo Indonesia in BSD, Tangerang, recently.
Ryan believes that the Jaecoo J7 SHS hybrid car is capable of competing and even tempting consumers in the country.
Moreover, this product carries various of the latest features. It is claimed to be able to pamper prospective owners.
Additionally, Jaecoo is under the auspices of Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), which is already well-known to many people.
“We are not a small group; Chery is a very large group and has many (vehicle) lines,” Ryan continued.
Armed with the various advantages mentioned above, Jaecoo is optimistic about its ability to compete with Japanese manufacturers in marketing hybrid cars in the country.
“Plus, we have many technological innovations,” Ryan emphasized.
As a reminder, Ryan previously did not mind many car brands engaging in a price war to attract consumers.
However, the condition is that they must still prioritize product quality and make many innovations.
That way, the hybrid cars marketed and offered will still have the best quality and be able to meet the needs of buyers.
"From Jaecoo's side, we also have to figure out how to produce innovative products. Providing high value, and even more," Ryan added.
Jaecoo believes that a price war can benefit consumers who are buying. Because they can get a vehicle at an affordable price.
