KatadataOTO – The government's discontinuation of electric vehicle incentives has made a number of electric car manufacturers worried. This is because prices are expected to increase compared to last year.

Therefore, Jaecoo Indonesia has introduced a program called ‘Price Lock Insurance’. With this, consumers will be protected from potential price increases for the Jaecoo J5 EV if the electric vehicle incentive is not continued, where the J5 EV unit will be subject to a 10 percent VAT.

“Through Price Lock Insurance, we want to provide a sense of security for consumers by ensuring the vehicle's price is maintained despite any price increases,” said Jim Ma, Business Unit Director of Jaecoo Indonesia.

This program is available to consumers who have paid a booking fee by December 31, 2025. If the EV incentive is discontinued, consumers will still only pay Rp 299.9 million, provided they join the Price Lock Insurance program for Rp 8 million.

“However, specifically for consumers who have paid the booking fee and the full price of the vehicle, the price of the J5 EV unit will remain at Rp 299.9 million without needing to join the Price Lock Insurance program,” he said.

It should be noted that the Jaecoo J5 has received a positive response from the public. Since its launch, up to 12,000 units of this car had been ordered by the end of December 2025.

However, the large number of orders was apparently not matched by an increase in production capacity. As a result, fulfilling orders has not been optimal.

They have only managed to deliver 3,000 units of the Jaecoo J5 to customers. That number can only cover orders made up to early November 2025.

Jim Ma also emphasized that his party has taken several steps to increase production capacity. It is hoped that customers who ordered in 2025 can receive their units before Lebaran 2026.

“We apologize to prospective consumers affected by the delivery waiting time. Jaecoo is currently increasing production capacity and optimizing the supply chain so that units can be received by consumers soon,” he then affirmed.
