KatadataOTO – Currently many new cars are equipped with infotainment screens or large-sized instrument panels. This is usually done by manufacturers froma href="https://otomotif.katadata.co.id/tag/cina">China.

That feels necessary because almost all controls are on a single screen. There are no longer many physical buttons in the vehicle.

Thus, the vehicle cabin looks more modern. Different from cars released in the 1990s to early 2000s.

However, that has sparked many responses. Including from Audi which is starting to feel uncomfortable with the wide-screen design inside the cabin.

"A large screen is no longer the best experience," said Massimo Frascella, Chief Creative Officer Audi in Carscoops, Wednesday (28/01).

For your information, Frascella has designed several Land Rover products. Such as the Velar, Defender up to the Range Rover.

From all the cars above, he did not include a large screen at all. That decision is what Frascella will apply to Audi's new products.

As shown in the Audi New C Concept. In the interior you can see there is no longer a large screen, unlike the latest model cars.

This decision aligns with the values Frascella upholds: clear, technical, smart and emotional.

Frascella believes the driver's emotional side cannot be forced. It must arise naturally from discipline, precision, and purpose.

"So you have to listen to what the consumer needs. Then find your own way to realize it through an experience that is unlike anyone else," he added.

Nevertheless, Frascella's idea still needs to be proven. Whether Audi consumers are suitable for the designer's concept or not.

Considering there are still many new car buyers who want to see a large screen inside the vehicle to give it a modern feel.

Especially for current electric cars where all controls, from turning on lights, AC to operating the vehicle, are on that screen.

Nonetheless, it is not uncommon for buyers to still want physical buttons and a not-too-large screen in the cabin.

That is for operational practicality. Moreover, it is considered safer when driving alone on the highway

Because your concentration isn't disrupted, as you would have to constantly look at a large screen to operate various features.
