Denza Ramps Up Next Year, Ready to Launch Off-road SUV

At least six other models besides the D9 were registered by Denza with DJKI, and there are Fang Cheng Bao products.
KatadataOTO – Denza officially entered the Indonesian market on January 22, 2025. They brought one luxury electric-powered MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) model, the Denza D9.
As a sub-brand of BYD, Denza targets a different consumer segment, offering a premium product line. Its price is also higher than BYD's models, with the Denza D9 being sold for Rp 950 million on the road in Jakarta.
Although it has not been announced what other models might be introduced, data from the DGIP (Directorate General of Intellectual Property) reveals that six other models besides the D9 have been registered by Denza.
According to information from the Indonesian IP Database (PDKI) website, accessed today, Friday (24/1), the applicant is listed as BYD Company Limited from China.
The models in question are the Denza B5, B8, N9, Z9, Z9GT, and D9L. All six are a combination of pure electric-powered SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) and hatchbacks.
This is likely a move by BYD to prevent its name from being used by other parties. Considering that its name was recently used by PT Worcas Nusa Abadi.
In the global market, BYD usually offers its products in various types. So not just BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) but also PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle).
Since Denza targets the premium class, it is likely that its prices will be different from BYD's, which are sold for Rp 300 million to Rp 700 million.
Nevertheless, it is certain that Denza's prices will be competitive with other brands in the same class. For comparison, one of its rivals, the Maxus Mifa 9, is offered at around Rp 1 billion.
Meanwhile, other premium brands like Zeekr also brought in an MPV but offered it at a higher price. When it debuted at GJAW 2024, its estimated price started from Rp 2.1 billion and up.
It was recently discovered that the Denza B5 was previously sold in China under another BYD sub-brand, namely Fang Cheng Bao. At that time, its name was Bao 5.
BYD has previously stated that they are interested in bringing more models and sub-brands to Indonesia to reach various consumer segments.
“We want to bring a complete range of products to consumers. Because EVs (Electric Vehicles) are not just for a few people, but for all of us,” said Jacob Ma, Head of Training and Assistant President Director of BYD Motor Indonesia, some time ago.
