Lepas to Build 20 New Dealerships in Indonesia This Year

KatadataOTO – A sub-brand of the Chery Group, Lepas will launch its first product for consumers this year. At the same time, dozens of dealer networks are being prepared.

For your information, Lepas debuted in Indonesia at the GIIAS 2025 event. Three models were introduced: the L4, L6, and L8.

According to Chery, the Lepas dealer network in Indonesia is targeted to be completed in the near future.

“We have already built various networks, totaling around 20,” said Zeng Shuo, Vice President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) in Tangerang, some time ago.

He emphasized that the official Lepas dealers are already under construction and will be completed by September 2025 at the earliest.

He further revealed that the first Lepas product in Indonesia is the L8 compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

With a two-row, 5-seater configuration, the Lepas L8 will compete in a fairly crowded segment in Indonesia.

Several similar models in this class include the Chery C5, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Creta, and Mitsubishi Xforce.

So Chery will face a challenge in introducing the Lepas L8 and its advantages to consumers. The price offered must also be competitive.

Facing this, Lepas stated that they are confident in competing with other brands through abundant features and an attractive price tag.

“At the same price point, our brand offers capable features as standard. I think that's why we are very confident about entering the Indonesian market,” said Ricky He, Deputy Country Director of Lepas Indonesia on the same occasion.

Speaking of dealers, Ricky revealed that there will be about three dealers that are a combination of Lepas and Tiggo. 

So at these combined dealerships, the vehicle lineup on display will be varied, including Tiggo series SUVs like the Tiggo Cross and Tiggo 8 Hybrid.

The regions will still be focused on major cities. For now, Jakarta is the main priority.

“For Lepas, we are only focusing on provincial capitals, in the big cities,” Ricky affirmed.

However, he was still reluctant to speak in more detail about which other cities will be the focus for the Lepas brand's development in Indonesia.
