KatadataOTO – SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) Mitsubishi Destinator officially made its global debut in Indonesia, the production version of the DST Concept car.

Although it has just been launched, Mitsubishi has revealed plans for local assembly of the Destinator in Indonesia.

In the future, the brand with the three-diamond logo also revealed that the Mitsubishi Destinator will be exported to various other countries.

“We will definitely export to other countries, mostly in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America,” said Takao Kato, President and CEO of MMC (Mitsubishi Motors Corporation) on the sidelines of the Destinator launch, Thursday (17/07).

He emphasized that his party will maximize production at the MMKI (Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia) facility located in Cikarang, West Java.

It seems that for now, only Indonesia will be the country where the Mitsubishi Destinator is produced.

“There are no plans to produce the Mitsubishi Destinator in other countries yet,” Kato affirmed.

Regarding the Local Content Level (TKDN), the Mitsubishi Destinator is said to have reached a figure of 70 percent.

According to Kato, this TKDN achievement is considered high for a car that has just been launched domestically.

Local assembly is also believed to make the price of the Mitsubishi Destinator more competitive. However, the price tag will only be announced at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 event.

So far, the temporary price estimate for the Mitsubishi Destinator is from the Rp 400 million range to above Rp 500 million, depending on the chosen variant.

For your information, the Mitsubishi Destinator is equipped with a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine. The powertrain is a second-generation version of the engine in the Eclipse with the code 4B40.

The power output is claimed to reach 160 hp, with a peak torque of 250 Nm. All power is channeled to the front wheels through a CVT automatic transmission.

Just like the XForce, the Mitsubishi Destinator is equipped with several driving modes: Wet, Tarmac, Normal, Gravel, and Mud.

Then there is a variant option that has been equipped with an audio system from Yamaha. This feature is only available on the highest trim, the Ultimat Premium.
