Red and Green L8 Models Dominate Orders

The L8 targets consumers in the premium segment who are looking for an additional vehicle, not a primary car.

KatadataOTO – Lepas L8 is a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) from the Chery Group sub-brand. This model targets a different consumer segment than Chery in Indonesia.

Although it is also a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) like the Tiggo series, the Lepas L8 is offered in more eccentric and varied color variants.

Some of these color options are not available on other Chery Group products, including Jaecoo.

“Looking at our Vehicle Order Forms (SPK), many customers choose red and green colors,” said Ricky He, Deputy Director of Lepas Business Unit in Sunter, on Thursday (22/01).

However, in Indonesia, black and white are often the first choice for consumers because they are easy to resell.

This indicates a difference in the consumer class for the Lepas L8 compared to other brands, including those from the Chery Group itself.

“Starting from the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW), the consumer profile at our dealerships clearly shows that this (Lepas L8) is not their first car, but an additional one,” said Junianto Naibaho, Chief Executive Officer of Lepas SM Group on the same occasion.

He further revealed that Lepas consumers tend not to ask about sales programs but rather about unit availability and vehicle delivery times.

But one attractive feature of the Lepas L8 is the option to customize the badge number on the car. This applies to the first 100 buyers.

“They can choose the number to be installed on the car. So (a combination of) three digits from zero to 100. That has a special value of its own,” Junianto affirmed.

However, Lepas is still keeping the information about the number of orders received since the L8's debut under wraps.

For your information, pre-booking for the Lepas L8 has been open since GJAW 2025 with a price in the Rp 500 million range.

As a PHEV, the Lepas L8 has an extra range thanks to an additional battery. Without relying on gasoline, the car can travel 100 kilometers on battery power alone.

Meanwhile, comprehensively, the combination of gasoline and battery as a power source allows this car to travel up to 1,300 kilometers.
