Strong Signal: Suzuki eVitara Electric Car to Launch at IIMS 2026

The Suzuki Jimny will soon exit the European market; a special limited-edition version of only 55 units will be launched.
KatadataOTO – Suzuki Jimny has to say goodbye to the European market because it cannot adapt to strict regulations regarding emissions and electrification.
In some European countries, the Suzuki Jimny even had to be ‘downgraded’ from a passenger car to a two-seater LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) to avoid these regulations.
Before being discontinued, Suzuki officially launched a special edition for consumers in France, also marking the 55th anniversary of the Jimny in the automotive industry.
Launched as the Jimny 55th Anniversary, the model will only be produced in a limited run of 55 units and is aimed at collectors.
The base model used is the 3-door Jimny. Visually, its shape hasn't changed much, but there is a noticeable change to the grille.
While the standard version has an 'S' emblem, the special edition Jimny uses 'Suzuki' lettering. The retro look and vintage feel are enhanced by retro decals with a combination of red, orange, and yellow on the left and right doors of the car.
Red mud flaps have been added. Then, the spare tire at the back is covered with a cover featuring a Rhino emblem.
The wheel design is also very simple, finished in black. There are four colors that potential customers can choose from: White, Jungle Green, Bluish Black, and Medium Gray.
Inside the cabin, the look is minimalist, typical of a classic car, without a large infotainment screen but rather a single-DIN head unit.
Nevertheless, the features offered are still capable of ensuring the comfort of both the driver and passengers while driving.
For example, the seats are equipped with heating and cooling, Bluetooth connectivity, and safety features including Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beams, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The powertrain used is still the same, a 1,500 cc engine with a claimed output of 101 hp and a peak torque of 130 Nm. Power is sent to all wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
The 55 units of this limited edition Suzuki Jimny will be offered at a price of 33,200 USD, or around Rp 543.1 million when converted to the rupiah exchange rate.
The end of the Suzuki Jimny's story in Europe is drawing near, although there were plans to equip the Jimny with hybrid technology so it could continue to be sold there.
Suzuki has confirmed that the Suzuki Jimny will not transition into an electrified vehicle. However, it does not rule out the possibility of a powertrain update that is compatible with alternative fuels.
In Indonesia, the Suzuki Jimny is still offered in both three-door and five-door options, targeting consumers who love iconic cars and off-road enthusiasts.
