KatadataOTO – After achieving positive results in China, the right-hand drive version of the electric car Toyota bZ3X has been officially launched in Hong Kong.

The right-hand drive Toyota bZ3X is Toyota's cheapest model there, priced at 229,600 HKD or around Rp 489.1 million in rupiah, equivalent to the Aion V in Indonesia.

It should be noted that the Toyota bZ3X electric car is a result of a joint development between Toyota and GAC Group, produced at the GAC Toyota Nansha assembly facility in Guangzhou.

In China, the Toyota bZ3X has sold up to 46,000 units and set a new record for the GAC-Toyota joint venture, a positive sign of the public's response to the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Hong Kong is the first country outside of China where the right-hand drive variant of this electric car was launched for several reasons.

One of them is the rapid growth of Hong Kong's electric car market. There, the penetration of new Electric Vehicles (EVs) is said to be approaching 70 percent.

The Toyota bZ3X is here to complete the portfolio of the T-badged manufacturer while also meeting consumer demand.

There are no changes in terms of specifications. Almost everything still has the same configuration except for the steering wheel placement.

However, the right-hand drive Toyota bZ3X is said to have additional features suited for Hong Kong's urban roads and limited parking areas.

This helps the driver to maneuver more easily when driving the Toyota bZ3X.

The right-hand drive bZ3X electric car is believed to be a sign of Toyota's expanding market, which will receive products developed with Chinese manufacturers.

Besides Hong Kong, other countries believed to be the next launch locations for the bZ3X are Japan, the UK, Singapore, and Australia.

Indonesia could also be a potential option. For your information, the Aion V, which is the development basis for the Toyota bZ3X, is already sold domestically and has achieved positive results.

So it is not impossible that the Toyota bZ3X could also invigorate the domestic automotive market.

However, once again, price is an important determining factor. The Aion V can be sold starting from Rp 489 million because it is locally assembled or has Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status.
