KatadataOTO – Enlivening GIIAS 2025, the sixth-generation Subaru Forester has officially made its Southeast Asian debut for Indonesian consumers.

The model, which first launched in 1997, comes with a more modern design and the latest powertrain.

The decision to debut the sixth-generation Subaru Forester in the country was made because Indonesia is one of the manufacturer's important markets.

“We want to show our full commitment to providing a driving experience that is enjoyable, safe, and relevant to the lifestyle of the Indonesian people,” said Arie Christopher, CEO of Subaru Indonesia in Tangerang, Thursday (24/07).

The Subaru Forester is wrapped in a sporty and assertive design. Its ability to tackle various road terrains is supported by a 220 mm ground clearance.

Beyond its appearance and performance, the Subaru Forester also considers passenger comfort. The cabin is claimed to be 12.5 percent quieter than the previous model.

For the driver, there are anti-fatigue seats, also known as Ergonomic Medical Seats. This component was designed directly by Subaru and a medical institution in Japan.

The seats are designed to provide ideal pelvic and spinal support, thereby reducing fatigue during driving.

The latest generation of Subaru EyeSight technology is also included, equipped with an additional wide-angle camera to support the existing active safety features.

For example, pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, a 360-degree camera, and cornering lights.

Speaking of the powertrain, the sixth-generation Subaru Forester is equipped with a new 2.5-liter boxer engine, producing 183 hp and a peak torque of 247 Nm.

This power is channeled to all wheels through the latest Lineartronic automatic transmission, which is said to be more responsive.
